The ruling ZANU-PF party has declared its full support for Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, which proposes extending Presidential and Parliamentary terms from five to seven years. Addressing the media in Harare, party spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said the gazetting of the Bill is part of a lawful parliamentary process and reaffirmed that the party stands firmly behind its resolutions. He emphasised respect for constitutional institutions and the need for the expeditious completion of all processes related to the proposed amendment. During the briefing, Ambassador Mutsvangwa also reviewed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent international engagements in Dubai and at the African Union, describing them as reinforcing Zimbabwe’s re-engagement policy and Afrocentric diplomatic approach. He highlighted the President’s participation at the World Leaders Summit and the African Peer Review Mechanism as part of Zimbabwe’s growing global engagement. According to the party, the Second Republic’s economic trajectory is anchored on inclusive growth, production, value addition and a non-discriminatory investment framework that welcomes capital from both East and West.
