Laparoscopy is a keyhole surgery. Here tiny 3mm holes are given in the site where the surgery has to be performed. For a gynaecological surgery it would be on the abdomen and the lower half of the abdomen called as the pelvis. Using these two or three incisions itself the entire major surgery can be completed well. It is a very advantageous surgery because you are giving a minimal incision and hence minimal bleed loss and better recovery. If you are having a big long incision on your tummy you are going to get up late, experience pain during the surgery also it is a longer procedure and blood loss is more. Hence the recovery is faster with laparoscopic procedure as well as your return to your work place would be faster because you are recovery is good and quick.
