Haitham Maloka was born in 1965 in Alqosh, Iraq, and grew up in Baghdad, where he earned a diploma in Pharmacy. After enduring the impact of two devastating wars, he immigrated to Turkey as a refugee and then arrived in Australia in 1992. In Australia, Haitham became an active civil and national advocate, engaging in freelance work while passionately supporting his community. He played a key role in establishing Chaldean associations and the Chaldean Australian Federation in Melbourne, serving as president for one term and secretary in several others. He contributed to the first community magazine, Bahra, where he wrote a column based on his library. His advocacy efforts included meetings with Australian parliament members to support the community and organizing annual festivals like Akitu and the Babylonian Chaldean New Year. Alongside his brother, Dr. Amer Malka, Haitham co-founded Babel magazine, the first publication for their community, where he currently serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief. He has authored over a hundred articles for prominent websites and is a founding member of the Chaldean Writers and Authors Union, where he now serves as president. Additionally, he co-founded the Ur Chaldean Channel on YouTube, where he acts as the director. Currently, Haitham is preparing to publish his first book, a collection of short stories. He is also a proud father of two daughters, Rossio and Rossella.
