Paranormal investigation at ..... The stone manor rises from the landscape, its castle-like features—the turrets, narrow windows, and crenellations—looming over the lake with a menacing glare. Once a fairy-tale home, the building is now just a crumbling, overgrown monument to forgotten grandeur. Built between 1811 and 1830 for John Howorth. After Howorth's death in 1831, it was inherited by his cousin, Fanny Bostock, who fought legal battles to keep the nearby Rudyard Lake free from commercial activity. Following Bostock's death, the North Staffordshire Railway (NSR) bought the property in 1903 and used it as a golf clubhouse from 1906 to 1926. A railway station named Cliffe Park Halt was built nearby. The Youth Hostels Association (YHA) leased the hall in 1933 and bought it in 1955, operating it as Rudyard Lake Hostel until 1969. After reverting to private ownership in 1970, the last known owner, Brian Dalley, was attacked during a burglary in 2014 and died two years later.
