The men struggle with his overly strict and often unfair methods, but they bond through the adversity. Despite doubts about Sobel’s leadership, Easy Company develops into a disciplined and tightly knit unit. Episode 2 – “Day of Days” On June 6, 1944 (D-Day), Easy Company parachutes into Normandy behind enemy lines. Many soldiers are scattered during the chaotic drop, but the men regroup under Lieutenant Winters’ leadership. Winters leads a small team to successfully assault a German artillery position firing on Utah Beach, a mission later recognized as a model of tactical excellence.
