Episode 1: Why Legalize Cannabis in Canada

Cannabis is the most commonly used illicit substance in Canada. In 2018, Canada became the second country in the world to legalize the non-medical use of cannabis. The Canadian experience will set a number of important international precedents, with the potential to inform cannabis policy in other countries. This documentary series, “Cannabis Legalization in Canada: A Mini-Series”, explores various themes within cannabis legalization, and features interviews with a range of stakeholders, including government officials, industry representatives, and academics. In episode 1, we speak to : • Dr. Mark Ware, the Vice-chair from the Task Force on Cannabis Legalization and Regulation • Ashley Athill, the Founder of Sensii, a Cannabis Cultivation Education Organization • Tyler James, the Director of Communication for Eden Medicinal Society • Mark Cavdar, an Associate Counsel to a Licensed Producer • Jean-Francois Crépault, a Senior Policy Analyst at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health And together we explore why Canada is legalizing cannabis.
