In Part 3, we step away from the cities and head into the mountains and monasteries that hold some of the deepest spiritual and historical roots of the region. Our journey begins at Rila Monastery 🇧🇬 — Bulgaria’s most iconic and revered monastery, surrounded by forested mountains and timeless silence. From its striking architecture and colorful frescoes to the peaceful atmosphere within its walls, Rila is a place that invites reflection and awe. Walking through the monastery grounds, it’s easy to feel the centuries of faith, history, and tradition that have shaped this sacred site. From there, the journey continues across the border into North Macedonia 🇲🇰 to the Monastery of the Holy Mother of Delchovo — a quieter, lesser-known monastery tucked away in a remote and beautiful setting. The road there, the stillness of the surroundings, and the simplicity of the monastery itself made this visit especially meaningful. It was a powerful contrast to the grandeur of Rila, offering a more intimate and deeply personal experience. This final chapter brings our Bulgaria adventure to a thoughtful close — a reminder that some of the most unforgettable moments of travel come not from crowds or landmarks, but from quiet places that leave a lasting impression.
