EdTech 201 - Jason Pipe: Kahoot! EdTech 201 is a practical workshop for language teachers who want to know more about EdTech and look for different ways to implement new ideas in their teaching. The theme of this workshop is ‘Bringing EdTech to Face-to-face Classroom.’ In 2021, we are transitioning out of online class and back to campus. Some of us might be teaching f2f or hybrid classes. We are hoping to help instructors with the change. In EdTech 201, each presenter will demonstrate an EdTech tool that can be used in f2f or hybrid settings and give the audience some hands-on experience. Jason Pipe Tokyo Keizai University Although computer-based classes are nowadays an expected standard, with the expectations of face-to-face classes, it is important to consider which technology can still be effectively used back in the classroom. Remote learning has had a lot of challenges for both the teacher and student. The free software, Kahoot, was introduced into online classes as an opportunity to not only provide formative and summative assessment but to engage students in class activities and provide a clear and fun way to explore aspects of their second language acquisition. This presentation will introduce this software, the benefits of including this resource into the classroom, the possible problems that could occur, and how to adapt this technology to benefit your students in the virtual or actual classroom.
