Total hip replacement, a solution to hip osteoarthritis, explained in 3D! The femoral head fits into the acetabulum in the pelvis, forming the hip joint. Hip osteoarthrisis is caused by the wear and tear of the cartilage on these two components. To resolve this, a total hip replacement consists in fitting two components: a cotyloidal implant in the pelvis and a femoral head, located on a stem inserted in the femur beforehand. The materials used for these implants guarantee the optimal lifespan of the prosthesis and their placement, and using a minimally invasive anterior approach spares the hip muscles. The joint is therefore no longer painful and stability is restored with a minimized recovery time.
