Buffalo FX Power Booster Demo

The Colorsound Power Boost is one of the most iconic pedals in David Gilmour gear. It's been used over most of the greatest songs from Animals, WYWH, The Wall and DSOTM. Although Macaris in London is still producing this pedal, it's not chip at all, so I've been looking for something more affordable, that could achieve those tones. I've tried a lot of clones of the PowerBoost, starting with the Vick Audio Overdriver (Of course that is a clone of che Colorsound Overdriver, which is a 9V version of the PB, to be sold in the american market). I also had the chance to try briefly an Electronic Orange Banana Boost, which unfortunately was faulty, so I had to send it back. Finally I was about to buy it new (actually this is not cheap either, but still...less expensive than Macari's reissues), when I found a second hand BuffaloFX Power Booster. This pedal is a faithful reproduction of the original 18v Power Boost, but runs with 9v, because it features an internal voltage doubler, so it'll give you all of the original headroom, but won't require any special piece of gear. I think this is the best so far, more or less as good sounding as the Banana Boost (which also features the voltage doubler) and from many demos I heard it seems also very close to the ThroBak Overdrive Boost (which is almost as expensive as a Macaris replica).
