This video is a witness to the movement that matters, the revolution Bangladesh was waiting for. -- The trial of the war criminals of 1971 is possibly the single most significant event in the life of a free Bangladeshi, for anyone who believes in our Liberation War. 42 years into our independence, the criminals were finally put into trial to officially end the war in a just way. However, earlier this month, the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced warcrime convict Quader Mollah into life imprisonment - a verdict unacceptable to the people of Bangladesh. In the '71 War, Mollah - along with other war criminals - were responsible for the mass killing and rape of innumerable Bangalis, thereby, committing crimes against humanity. Their crimes have been proven and the nation seeks justice. The verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal was immediately followed by protests in Shahbagh, Dhaka. People from all walks of life quickly gathered to raise their voice and demand death sentence for Quader Mollah. Without it, other war criminals will have the opportunity to be acquitted with minimum punishment. What has been happening in Shahbagh since 5 February 2013 is incredible. The common people of this country have gone beyond partisan politics to come together and demand justice. Every day, hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshis - from those aged 80 to those stepping into their 20s - chant slogans of rebellion. We demand a fair and just trial for the war criminals, we demand a truly liberated Bangladesh.
