Launching in 1992, Cartoon Network quickly made a name for itself as being the go-to channel for all things animated. Though the network primarily relied on reruns of classic cartoons for the first few years, the channel soon began creating their own original shows. These new shows would be completely different from everything else on TV at the time. They weren’t clean like Disney, and they were more tolerant of creators than Nickelodeon, too. These shows, referred to as “Cartoons Cartoons”, were all about letting the creators' imaginations run wild. The shows varied from talk-show spoofs to horror comedies, giving Cartoon Network an animation lineup that was totally unlike anything seen before. Many of these shows are fondly remembered even today, and some have left a noticeable mark on the animation industry as a whole!
