About 11 am Thursday morning a driver was eastbound on SH 242 in a Chevrolet Colorado pickup. At the entrance to Lone Star Ranch, she checked for westbound traffic, then started her turn. At the same time, a male in his 20s was westbound on SH 242 approaching Lone Star Ranch at an extremely high speed and weaving in and out of traffic. That driver slammed into the rear of the pickup, causing it to rotate 180 degrees. The Kawasaki driver was ejected from the bike and landed in the roadway 250 feet from the impact point. His motorcycle continued another 100 feet beyond that. Caney Creek Fire responded along with MCHD. The driver was transported to Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands in critical condition. The driver of the pickup was uninjured. A witness had a dash cam which showed the motorcycle weaving in and out of traffic and traveling close to 100 mph. He never hit his brakes as he rounded another vehicle and slammed into the Chevy pickup. Several other witnesses also stated he was traveling at a high rate of speed. It was noted that his license plate was under the seat, where it could not be read. Many times, motorcycles with tags like that are for a reason, to make it impossible for a law enforcement officer to see them should they try to stop them. SH 242 was closed until 1:30 pm as DPS investigated the crash. The dash cam they obtained showed several vehicles continuing westbound, driving around the motorcycle and the victim. DPS would like to speak with any other witnesses.
