The view from the seats reserved for special guests, to the dancing ground of the Gontse Gaden Rabgyel Ling Monastery in Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh, far northeast India, on the third day of the Drub-chod-Chen-Mo Cum Bomdila Torgya ceremony, devoted to Palden Lhamo ("Glorious Goddess" in Tibetan). A masked dancer descends the steps while monks wearing yellow hats play the "gyaling" woodwind instrument. This is followed by elaborately costumed monks carrying small hand-held drums (Damaru), and the dance is accompanied by "dungchen" (a long horn) and drums.
