I bought this audiobook in February 2013 but the sound of Jonathan Firth putting on a Cockney accent sort of put me off! However I decided to give it another go and six months afterwards I have decided that the audio performance isn't as bad as I first thought. I can't really argue as it has Jonathan doing yet another turn of his Yorkshire accent (first heard in 'I'll Never be Young Again'.) I find now that he uses this dialect more and more, though I can't complain! There is something about Jonathan, when he resorts to regional dialects, he seems to be able to do accents that call up the essence of the British countryside easier than most. He will be in a Shakespeare play this Autumn in Sheffield and it has me half wondering whether he will use this dialect? Perhaps his Yorkshire accent is going home?? My imagination is drifting here lol. However I do hope you enjoy this snippet of James Herbert's novel. I know I am enjoying Jonathan's retelling of it. I must give a thank you to my brother Daniel who helped me make this available to you all. :)
