Two traditional Shetland fiddle tunes played on the viola. I learnt both of these in a series of workshops led by Chris Stout in 2001. The first is called Winyadepla (also called Faider’s Tön), one of a few tunes known as "trowie tunes" which are said to originate with the trows. (Learn more about the tune and these creatures at https://www.shetlanddialect.org.uk/Wi... and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trow_(f...) ). The second, Du’s Bun Lang Awa An A’m Tocht Lang Ta See Dee, is in some ways similar to a Northumbrian-style 3/2 hornpipe (and may be derived from one or vice versa, though I haven't done sufficient analysis to be sure about this...) The sheet music for the basic melody in these viola versions is included in Volume 2 of my collection of traditional tunes for viola, available here: https://payhip.com/b/ujM6 For the bowings and ornaments, there is more detailed sheet music available at: https://payhip.com/b/Nfl9T If you want to get an email when I release new sheet music, you can sign up to my mailing list at http://www.folkviola.co.uk or http://eepurl.com/hmN55T .
