In this video I put together a stand for my blacksmithing anvil using a black walnut stump. I made the hold downs using some angle iron and eye bolts. The technique that I used to level off the stump was inspired by the Essential Craftsman. A few months back, my wonderful wife Priscilla surprised me with a trip to the Catskill Mountain Makers Camp in October 2019, but what she left out was that while there, another surprise was in store. She coordinated with Chris Cash of @mt_phillip_metal_works to get me my first anvil, a 150 lb Hay Budden farrier's anvil, forged in Brooklyn, NY in 1901. This one belonged to Jesse Savage and lived in Vermont but made its way back home to New York. I have been forging on this setup for a few months now and it has been holding up fantastic. Thanks so much for watching! More videos coming soon!
