This week we visit a place where Canadian's held the line in the face of the latest in war technology, and a place where us Scots were the only thing standing between the German army's elite Prussian guard and the town of Ypres.. If Ypres falls so does Belgium... No pressure then, men of the Black Watch. Yep, Dizzy is off on his travels to the beautiful Belgian town of Ypres where commonwealth troops far from their homes in Canada, Australia and New Zealand arrived in Europe to do their bit for King and Empire. We have a look round the town itself before heading off to explore famous places like Langemark, Tyne Cot, Polygon Wood and Paschendale. These were places that in war were the crucible in which Commonwealth nations earned their independence, and that heralded the beginning of the end of empire. This is a regular road trip for us but not a place we've featured before as we're never sure how these wee adventures will be received by our audience. A poll on the community page showed 88% of people would be interested in a Belgian special, so here it is !! A huge thank you to everyone who's supported our wee channel so far, if you'd like to help support our wee adventures you can do it through through our Ko-Fi or Patreon. All our videos are hand made from 100% organic ingredients ;). Our content is mostly filmed on a GoPro 12 with a Rode fluffy microphone to keep the wind noise down, with occasional bits on an iPhone13. We also use a DJI Mini 3 drone which we're loving getting to grips with. We make our own music using GarageBand and the videos are edited in iMovie. If you'd like to buy DeNiro a biscuit (and he's a good boy, honest) you can via our Ko-Fi link at http://www.ko-fi.com/ScotlandOnAShoes.... If you'd like to become a patron of our wee channel we also have a patreon at / scotlandonashoestring We also have an Etsy shop where we sell some of our hand made items. It's at https://dandbbythesea.etsy.com
