I'll also be showing you the best way to harvest mesquite for food use! The Mesquite (Prosopis genus) has been a pioneer plant in arid to semi-arid environments for millennia. It is a nitrogen fixing legume that also provides shade and nutrients to other plants and animals in locations where those things are scarce. It has been used historically as a medicine for many different ailments, and as a food source in otherwise food scarce deserts. It is still used today by many indigenous tribes in the Southwest!
