It is best known for its beautiful Black Sea coast, the high mountains, the ancient history full of mysteries, its rose oil, its wine, its delicious food, and its hospitable people. Rhodope Mountains is one of the largest mountain ranges in the Balkans. It is an endless maze of ridges and valleys, located mostly in Bulgaria, and a part of Greece. It is covered by wild deep forests and hides a unique local culture, history, and mysteries. One of the most beautiful valleys in the Rhodopes is the valley of Chepelarska River, leading against its current from the Upper Thracian Plain to the highest ridges of the mountain ranges around the border with Greece. In this video, our trip proceeds further on the valley of Chepelarska River, to the town of Chepelare. But before we reach the town, we visit several small villages, scattered on the side slopes and small valleys- Bogutevo, Ostrica, Lilekovo, and Zornica. Chepelare is a small town, known as one of the main ski centers in Bulgaria. In this video, we visit the Museum of the Rhodopean Karst, presenting some interesting artifacts from the caves in the Rhodope Mountains. And we will enjoy some beautiful panoramic views all the time.
