We rode over to Tenerife’s old capital city of La Laguna. This is thought to be the first well laid out Spanish colonial city, with subsequent cities copying the layout, such as Havana Old Town in Cuba. La Laguna is the first established city in the Canary Islands, and it also has the Canaries’ first university. Such is its importance, the town of La Laguna is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s a beautiful city for a day trip and has plenty of centrally located, free, motorcycle parking. Lots of coffee shops, restaurants, beautiful buildings, and a huge amount of history.
