My inspiring neighbourhood, Svinviks arboret

Anne and Halvor Svinvik was given a part of Halvors family farm to live on that really wasn't considered worth much because he wasn't expected to make anything for himself due to gradually loosing his eye sight. But he and his wife spent decades developing a gorgeous place that lives on long after they both are gone. They had an extensive collection of perennials, a big fruit garden and planted many exotic trees. The accomplishment they have made is amazing considering the hardship that was required to make this place a reality. The thought of this almost blind man climbing in the steep rocky hill planting all these plants fills me with a deep respect, gratitude and inspiration. They had a strong urge to make something beautiful and they did. This place is receiving a lot of visitors every year, and is very much loved and appreciated for its's extraordinary beauty.
