Dedicated to the many young men fought in World War II after losing their own fathers (and uncles, cousins, etc.) in World War I. The courage shown by these men was amazing. Going back to some of the same battlefields where their fathers died, to fight the same enemy, required a level of patriotism and devotion not often seen. But it's also dedicated to all those who served, in wartime and peacetime, and lost their lives. The memorials to these Fathers and Sons who answered the call of duty should not be relegated to pigeon restrooms and repositories for empty bottles of cheap wine. Memorial Day is dedicated to soldiers, seamen, doctors and nurses and pilots and all who served and paid the ultimate price. The United States Air Force, the Marine Corp, the Army, the Navy, the Coast Guard, have all had losses - sometimes severe losses - and we hope they are recognized. But there's also the Army Reserve, the National Guard, the Navy Reserve, the Air Force Reserve and the Air National Guard. These "part time services" have been called up to active duty, including combat, and have suffered the same losses and disabling injuries as regular active duty units. They should never be dismissed or looked down upon. We hope to remind people that behind the names written in stone, there are real stories of everyday people. This song is also a love story, of sorts, that happens all too often between soldiers and those they leave behind. As a memorial and tribute to all whose families serve, we honor their sacrifices. This song was inspired by a WWI/WWII memorial in Birkhamstead, UK, Although the Davis family pictured here is fictional, there are many real families who suffered through these circumstances. The memorials have been altered in this film out of respect for the actual people. Take a moment the next time you pass a war memorial, look at the names, and give honor to the men and women who fought, sacrificed, and sometimes died for us and those to come.
