In September 2016, House Bill 523 approved the use of medical marijuana in Ohio. The OMMCP was fully operational as of January 2019. 21 Qualifying Medical Conditions for Medical Marijuana in Ohio: AIDS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, Crohn’s disease, epilepsy or another seizure disorder, fibromyalgia, glaucoma, hepatitis C, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, pain that is either chronic and severe or intractable, Parkinson’s disease, positive status for HIV, post-traumatic stress disorder, sickle cell anemia, spinal cord disease or injury, Tourette’s syndrome, traumatic brain injury, and ulcerative colitis 3796:8-2-01 Authorized medical marijuana forms and methods of administration. (A) Pursuant to section 3796.06 of the Revised Code, approved medical marijuana products include the following forms and routes of administration: (1) Oil, tincture, capsule, or edible form for oral administration; (2) Metered oil or solid preparation for vaporization; (3) Patches for transdermal administration or lotions, creams, or ointments for topical administration; and (4) Plant material for administration with the use of vaporizing devices. -Smoking marijuana for medical purposes is illegal in Ohio.
