It is a condition in which there is an increased sebum secretion or oil secretion on the skin and it affects the hair follicles underlying the skin. So the causes of acne can be either genetic or hormonal most of the times the females are affected more compared to men. However both men and women can be affected at the same incidence rate for acne vulgaris. Here what happens is based upon the genetics and the hormonal influence the endocrinal activity increases which leads to excess sebum secretion from the sebaceous glands and this sebum secretion forms sebaceous flux and the of the hair follicles thus leading to formation of comedones. These comedones can either be white comedones or black comedones simultaneously. If there is a added bacterial infection these comedones can rupture to form either pustules or papules or sometimes cyst on the face. The treatment for acne vulgaris involves various steps.
