Measure X Innovation Fund: Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano Smart Food Lockers

Thank You, Contra Costa County, for Your Continued Support Through the Innovation Fund! We are excited to share the fourth video in our five-part Innovation Fund video series, which highlights the Smart Food Lockers project. This initiative is designed to make food access more convenient and discreet for those in need by providing food lockers where eligible individuals can retrieve meals anonymously and at their convenience. Modeled after systems like the Amazon Hub Locker, the food lockers are available in banks of 20 climate-controlled units that can be installed either indoors or outdoors at various locations around the county. Users will place their food orders electronically and receive a unique code for easy pick-up. Initially, food distributions will consist of a standard selection of staples, with plans to expand to customized choices based on dietary preferences and restrictions. Each locker bank has the capacity for up to three fills per day, potentially serving up to 60 families or households daily.
