The Golden Chariot is a luxury tourist train that connects the important tourist spots in the Indian states of Karnataka, Goa, Kerala & Tamil Nadu as well as Pondicherry, depending on the selected itinerary. It is named after the Stone Chariot in the Vitthala Temple at Hampi. Ministry of tourism department, Karnataka Tourism and IRCTC has come out with new packages for travel in Golden chariot, Golden Chariot, the luxury train owned by Karnataka Tourism (KSTDC) commenced operations in 2008 and has been promoting various sites of tourist interest over Karnataka and other neighbouring states. The Train connects the important tourist spots in the Indian states of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Goa depending on the itinerary. The train is named after the Stone Chariot of Vitthala Temple at Hampi. Golden Chariot is operating between the months of September–March and is open for charter trips on advance reservation. Having already carved a niche for itself in luxury tourism through Maharajas’ Express, IRCTC, the travel, tourism and hospitality arm of the Ministry of Railways has added another luxury train ‘Golden Chariot’ to its fleet. The Golden Chariot was taken over in 2020 by IRCTC for operation, management and marketing through a MOU executed between the two corporations in November 2019. The Guest Carriages on The Golden Chariot is named after the dynasties which ruled South India over several centuries in Karnataka. Each Carriage has four cabins with a mix of twins beds and double beds. The Guest Cabins are a mix of 13 double bed cabins, 30 twin bed cabins, 1 cabin for specially abled. There are 2 Restaurants – Ruchi and Nalapaka, serving delicious cuisines from across the world with an array of Indian options as well . Madira -The Bar serves the best of wines , beers and spirits (House Pour). The train also has Spa and Fitness Centre – Arogya.
