The parish of Clarendon, Jamaica, while primarily known for sugar production, also has a history with coffee cultivation, particularly in the early days of the Jamaican coffee industry. While not as renowned for coffee as some other parishes like St. Andrew or the Blue Mountains, Clarendon did contribute to the initial expansion of coffee growing in Jamaica. While Clarendon is historically known for sugar cane production, the early 19th century saw a move towards coffee growing in the hilly districts between Vere and Clarendon, eventually leading to the formation of Manchester parish. While sugar became more dominant in Clarendon, some coffee production continued, and areas within Clarendon contributed to the overall Jamaican coffee industry.
