I hooked up my GameCube to the video input on the Panasonic NV-HD70 (which featured in another video) and recorded some Kirby Air Ride gameplay to assess how the video output looked. I believe it is an issue with the that particular hardware that causes the video output to look weird. I think there are a few factors at play; one of which might be the difference in IRE - my GameCube has an IRE of ~7.5 (It outputs NTSC video) while the VCR may have one of 0 (as it is a VCR intended for non-North American markets, where PAL and SECAM are dominant). Another oddity I find is that the output is more sensitive to differences in brightness of blues (hence the normally blue sky being white) than reds and greens (the volcano at the edge of the city and the forest can easily be seen). Edit, 2/18/2017: Turns out the video is shifted to the right because my GameCube's horizontal shift was set to its maximum, +32. It looks normal when I play now that I've set it back to 0.
