Ep.35 Classic Cherry Pie (with outtakes) This cherry pie recipe is a family favourite. In a simple way you’ll be able to make one accompanied by custard. If you go ahead and make it for yourself it will be a favourite in your household too. Enjoy! For this recipe I used a 20cm (diameter)/8inch tart pan Ingredients for pie Plain flour (300g) Butter (150g) Icing sugar (50g)* Salt (1 teaspoon) Whole Eggs (x2)** Cold water (3-4 tablespoons)*** Fresh cherries (1kg) Normal granulated sugar *Caster sugar can also be used **Used one egg to bind the the pastry dough used second egg for egg wash before baking the fully assembled pie ***Add three tablespoons of water to your egg at first before mixing and adding to the flour mixture. If after you’ve added your egg-water mixture your dough is too dry 1 teaspoon at a time until the dough comes together to form a ball. For lattice top roll out pastry to a thickness of 3mm Then cut out a rectangle large enough to cover the top of your tart pan Slice the rectangle into 8 equal strips or as many as you like Before following the instructions for making the lattice pattern. Ingredients for custard * Whole eggs (x2) Egg yolks (x2) Cornstarch (2 teaspoons) Granulated sugar (1 tablespoon) Whole milk (500ml) Vanilla** *This recipe makes enough custard for 2 **if you use: Vanilla essence (1 teaspoon) Vanilla paste (1 teaspoon) Vanilla pod/bean (half of a pod) #BrilliantlyBritish #CherryPie #ShortCrustPastry _______________________________________________________ Check out all the Brilliantly British episodes, Start to Finish! • Плейлист BrilliantlyBritish Facebook Page / brilliantlybritish Instagram Page / brilliantlybritish2020
