This video looks at how long we should spend practising piano each day - a frequently asked question. The reason people ask how much piano practice should I do each day so frequently is that there is in fact no simple answer. Much depends on your current level, your aspirations and the constraints that life imposes. Naturally, piano practice needs to be part of our daily routine if we are to have any hope of progressing and it's a good idea to have a target amount of piano practice that we wish to do. However, I don't think we should be focussed on pure 'quantity' of practice. If there is one takeaway from this video that I hope viewers get, it's that quality of piano practice will always be more important than quantity alone. You can spend hours at the piano, even doing things such as scales, Hanon or Czerny. However if let's say we're just repeating scales with unevenness and bumps, they aren't going to correct themselves no matter how many hours we spend practising. Similarly, just playing through pieces for hours on end, mistakes and all, won't fix those mistakes and, if anything, our 'practice' is likely to be counter productive in that we'll be making our mistakes permanent! In short, don't be too worried if you can't devote 4 hours per day - think about using the time you have to its best.
