Urban Elegance: Exploring Chicago’s Riverwalk & Magnificent Michigan Avenue!

The Chicago Riverwalk is a public space located on the south bank of the main branch of the Chicago River. It extends from Lake Shore Drive and Lake Michigan to Lake Street ². The Riverwalk is a 1.25-mile long path that has been constructed in phases over time and includes four distinct districts: The Confluence, The Arcade, The Civic, and the Esplanade ². The Riverwalk is open to the public and is free to visit. It is open from 6 am to 11 pm every day ². The Riverwalk is home to many restaurants, boat rentals, public art, monuments, museums, and other family-friendly activities ⁵. The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC), formerly known as the Chicago Architecture Foundation, is a nonprofit cultural organization with tours, exhibitions, programs, and events for all ages ². The McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum celebrates the Chicago River and its world-famous movable bridges ². The Riverwalk also has public art, including murals, sculptures, and banners. Recently added to the Chicago Riverwalk collection is Andrea Carlson’s You are on Potawatomi Land ².
