A tour of KENRIDGE - Affluent & green part of Cape Town

Hi everyone! In this episode, I explore the Cape Town suburb or neighbourhood of Kenridge. I thought this is a good opportunity to show you a residential area of the city. Many people are familiar with the tourist sights and certain areas, but often the areas where people live are unknown to many and that in itself is exciting for any content creator! I don't know a lot about the area, but thought it would be good for me to explore for my own benefit, as my brother and his wife lives in the area now, and also to show you a bit of Cape Town off the beaten track. All I do know from conversations with some is that it is a 'disputed' suburb in that some thinks it is part of Bellville, whilst others think it is part of Durbanville. We start our walk through a certain part of Kenridge, just next to Durbanville Road, and notice that people in the city take their security more seriously than what was the case in the Karoo. I also immediately notice how green the area is - it is almost unbelievable or unthinkable that the city had water restrictions some years ago. I also spot several signs alluding to some neighbourhood community and it appears that the community is quite close or, at least, well connected. After strolling in some streets, I stumble across parks and more green spaces. I also talk about the way residents dispose of their rubbish and, quite bizarrely, see a traffic sign depicting a bird! I soon realise why though - I stumble across beautiful Kenridge Park where several bird species live, including the guinea fowl. I walk through the park and also meet a Malawian man which now calls Cape Town home. I then explore a bit of commercial Kenridge, and visit a local deli where I buy a gigantic muffin! I decide to eat it at the Kenridge sign - where else! I then stumble across a bark park, which is another excellent initiative in the area, before I end the vlog with some concluding remarks and a bit of fun with a special dog.
