Since the tragic earthquake in January 2010, Haiti has received billions of dollars in foreign aid. But 3 years later, the most common question continues to be, "Where did all the money go?" Dr. David Walton, who has spent 15 years in Haiti with the organization Partners In Health, follows the money trail and offers a new paradigm for foreign aid in the context of PIH's effort with the national government to build one of the largest and most advanced teaching hospitals in the country. Educated at at Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health, David Walton has worked with the organization Partners In Health for over a decade, dividing his time between Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital and rural Haiti. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
