Malcolm has a serious heart condition which means he’s unable to work — and doing something as demanding as garden maintenance simply isn’t possible for him anymore. Over time, the garden had completely taken over. We’re talking ten-foot brambles, self-seeded trees everywhere, and years of growth swallowing the entire space. Malcolm actually asked if I could just remove everything. Strip it right back. Because realistically, he can’t maintain a complicated garden on his own. He’s currently living off redundancy until his pension starts, so getting someone in to do this kind of work just isn’t something he can afford. So today the plan is simple — clear it all. Cut it back, remove the waste, and give Malcolm a garden he can actually manage again. And somewhere under all this jungle… there’s even a patio that hasn’t seen daylight in years. By the end of today, we’re going to bring it back. Malcolm was incredibly grateful for the help. He offered to pay me, but knowing his situation I couldn’t take it. Instead, he insisted on giving my boys some toys he had — which was really kind of him. Moments like that are exactly why I love doing these garden rescues.
