On the evening of Saturday the 10th of November, 1888, a journalist took a walk through the streets of Whitechapel, in the course of which he visited several of the Jack the Ripper murder sites. His subsequent report was published two days later, on Monday the 12th of November, and that report gives us a vivid insight into the mood in the streets in the aftermath of the murder of Mary Kelly. In this video, you will be able to hear that report and view photographs and sketches of the streets and places that the reporter wrote about. Of the murder sites Buck's Row, Mitre Square, Dorset Street are featured; Whitechapel Road, Whitechapel High Street, Aldgate High Street, and Commercial Street are also traversed. The writer even drops in at Commercial Street Police Station to witness a man being questioned on suspicion of being Jack the Ripper.
