With rising costs of basic items, uncertainty about whether or not those items will even be available, and general mistrust of "the system", interest in homesteading has been steadily rising. People are looking for ways to increase their self reliance, and homesteading is it. But what is homesteading really like? For Liz and Clay Hayes, homesteading and growing food isn't just a hobby, it's a way of life. In this video we'll show a typical spring day on the farm, and it starts with an early morning with Bloom, our milk cow. Spring is a busy, and muddy, time on the farm. Gardens must be tilled and planted, the high tunnel prepped, and garden irrigation system laid, the chickens are laying eggs, chicks are hatching, the farm animals are happy with the new grass, and birds are singing. Being a homesteading family and growing your own food is a lot of work, but it's meaningful work, and it brings us closer to the earth and each other.
