No food pleased him, and no doctor could heal him. Then, an old poor man appeared and told him that he would only get better if he ate "the sweetest bread in the world." They tried to make every kind of bread with sugar and cream—but without any result—so the old man took him with him for three days of hard work: harvesting, threshing, milling, kneading, and lighting the oven. When, in the end, the king ate the loaf he made himself, it tasted like the sweetest bread in the world! Then the old man revealed to him: The sugar in the bread was your sweat. And from that day on, the king changed his life. He worked, cared for his people, and... his appetite never left him again!
