This is the 3rd episode by Ins and Outs on Canada. Hi, everyone. Welcome to the 3rd episode. Here we are going to discuss about Canada. Let’s start: Canada, second largest country in the world in area (after Russia), occupying roughly the northern two-fifths of the continent of North America. Its 10 provinces and 3 territories, extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometers. Canada was settled by First Nation People many thousand years ago. Europeans arrived in 1000 AD and return in 1497, when John Cabot explored the Atlantic coast for Great Britain. The first permanent settlements were French, led by Samuel DE Champlain, they established the port royal and Quebec City in early 1600s. In 1840, United province of Canada was created due to Act of Union. In 1867, Sir John Alexander Macdonald, a Father of Confederation, became Canada’s first Prime Minister. Born in Scotland on January 11, 1815, he came to Upper Canada as a child Current Prime minister of Canada is Justin Trudeau. He is Canada’s 23rd Prime Minister. Form of Government in Canada is Parliamentary. Canada is the only major parliamentary system in North America Canada has a small population of 37 million inhabitants relative to its land area. The economy of Canada is a highly developed mixed economy. It is the 9th largest GDP by nominal in the world. Canada has the third highest total estimated value of natural resources, valued at US$33.2 trillion in 2019. It has the world's third largest proven petroleum reserves. Canada is fourth largest exporter of petroleum. It is also the fourth largest exporter of natural gas. Canada is considered an "energy superpower" due to its abundant natural resources. The Toronto Stock Exchange is the eighth-largest stock exchange in the world by market capitalization, listing over 1,500 companies with a combined market capitalization of over US$3 trillion. In 2018, Canadian trade in goods and services reached CA$1.5 trillion. Inflation Rate in Canada is 0.6 percent. Canada has the 8th largest commercial fishing and seafood industry in the world. For 2021, Canadian military is ranked 21 out of 140 countries. Current authorized strength is 71,500 Regular Force members and 30,000 Reserve Force members. The leaf in the Flag is called maple leaf. The maple leaf design represents the cultural heritage of the nation and natural resources of Canada. The colors are meant to symbolize Hope, Prosperity, Peace and Neutrality. National animal of Canada is Beaver. Beaver act as a symbol of the sovereignty of Canada received royal assent on March 24, 1975 The Gray Jay is the national bird of Canada. Gray Jay is mostly found in the Boreal forest of North America. Gray Jay is a friendly bird. The Mackenzie River is the longest river in Canada. It is second longest river system in America. And twelfth longest river in the world. Its length is 4,241 kilometers. Great Bear Lake is the largest lake located entirely inside Canadian borders. It is fourth largest lake in North America. And eighth largest in the world. Largest city in Canada is Toronto. With a population of 2.6 million people. Toronto is the capital of the Province of Ontario. CN Tower is Canada’s most recognizable and celebrated icon. CN stands for Canadian national Tower. It is located in Toronto. Height of CN tower is 553.3 meter. It was completed in 1976. More than 4000 workers died during the construction. Sports: There are two national games of Canada. Ice hockey is recognized as winter sport of Canada.
