In this video you can see the Philco Benetton washing machine (W35A) running a Syntetics wash cycle. The selected program is number 2 of the Black range whose programs are for Synthetic, Delicates and Wool fabrics. The program starts with the pre-selected lukewarm pre-wash at 30 ° C followed by the main wash for which the temperature can be freely chosen by the main wash thermostat, in this case I have selected 40 ° C which is the maximum temperature that the most delicate garment in the load can bear. As you can see in the video, the first part of the cycle is performed with gentle agitation then once the timer selector reaches program number 4, the wool program, the agitation switches to very delicate. The machine continues with “very delicate” agitation throughout the first rinse which ends without spin followed by two other rinses which include spinning. This is because I programmed the machine to spin by selecting it via the spin switch next to the on / off switch, if I had turned the spin switch to NO SPIN all three final rinses would have been performed at very delicate agitation. At the end of the third rinse, the one in which the machine normally adds the softener if present in the special dispenser, the timer goes into stand-by mode waiting for the user to manually advance the timer by selecting the final operation. When the machine goes into stand-by mode, the garments are kept floating in the water until the user intervenes to avoid the formation of creases in the fabric or color running. Depending on the operation chosen by the user, the machine drains the water and lets the garments drip for 2 minutes before ending the cycle or drains the water and performs a gentle 2-minute spin at 500 rpm. For this wash cycle I used a vintage combined detergent, very popular in Italy in the 70s / 80s, called DINAMO 3 which has its own softener already combined in the powder detergent, this is because, in general, the strong softeners used for cottons should never be used for synthetic fabrics. The reason is that the classic silicone-based softeners cannot impregnate and be retained by synthetic fibers and for this reason, sometimes, they create alterations in the colors because they tend to form a shiny layer on the surface of the fabric. The softener contained within the DINAMO 3 detergent does not generate this type of problem as it is more an antistatic compound than a real "silicon-based" softener and is also more delicate with fibers. In general what is very useful to improve the final results when washing synthetic fabrics is to add an antistatic rinse aid to the final rinse to limit that annoying peculiarity of such fibers of collecting static energy that I am sure most people experience when it comes to synthetic fabrics for clothing. The machine is loaded to the maximum prescribed for Syntetics, which is 3.2Kg of dry fabric, to avoid excessive friction between the fibers and the water level is automatically set to HIGH in all programs in the Black range. As you can see this washing machine runs smoothly, no vibrations, no squeaks ... I love it, this is one of the best Italian Philco machines of the 80's, too bad the once glorious Philco Italia no longer exists! Any new Philco machine you would see is actually an undercover Whirlpool!
