America 250: Journey to 250 Years of Freedom

As part of the nationwide America 250 initiative, we are beginning a special video series leading up to the Town of Prosper’s Pride in the Sky Independence Day celebration on July 2 at Frontier Park. In 2026, the United States of America will commemorate 250 years since its founding. This historic milestone is more than a celebration of longevity. It is a reflection on a defining principle that reshaped the world: the belief that liberty belongs to all people, not just a privileged few. Between now and July 4, 2026, Mayor David Bristol will share brief weekly video reflections exploring the ideas, individuals and events that shaped our nation’s founding. Each two-minute message will examine the courage of ordinary citizens, the vision and imperfections of the Founders, the sacrifices that secured independence and the ongoing responsibility each generation carries to preserve freedom. The goal is not simply to mark an anniversary. It is to deepen understanding, strengthen appreciation and renew our shared commitment to the ideals that define our country. The American experiment has never been flawless, but it has always been grounded in aspiration. As we approach this once-in-a-generation milestone, we invite the Prosper community to join us in learning, reflecting and preparing to celebrate together at Pride in the Sky on July 2.
