Footsteps of Paul Tour - September 14 to 27, 2024 This video highlights a beautiful Greek Orthodox church in Veria (Berea), Greece. Berea is mentioned in Acts 17:10-15. Paul, Silas, and Timothy had fled Thessalonica and traveled to Berea. The Bereans were described as being more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so (Acts 17:11). Paul had visited Berea at least two times between 50 A.D. and 57 A.D. Part One of the Footsteps of Paul video highlights the spot, according to tradition, where Paul stood and preached the Christian faith. The Orthodox church in this video is Saints Anargyroi Orthodox Church. It was built at the end of the 16th century, but reconstructed at the beginning of the 19th century. It is also known as the New Holy Church of the Holy Unmercenaries. Holy Unmercenaries is an epithet applied to a number of Christian Saints who did not accept payment for good deeds. These include Christian healers or physicians who in opposition to medical practices of the day, tended to the sick free of charge. A few of us visited this church, which was not an official part of the tour, which was very close to the point where the group stopped at a local restaurant for a morning break.
