Colorful duo: Paul Reubens & Allee Willis | "The World According to Allee Willis" bonus footage

Paul Reubens remembers how he met Allee Willis and how fast their friendship took off. It started with a call from Cassandra Peterson (aka Elvira), who told Paul, “You’ve got to meet this woman. She has bowling balls sunk in her front lawn.” And soon after, they became besties. They shared a love of kitsch, supported each other’s wild ideas, and rose to fame around the same time. As Paul puts it, “We were both really hot at the same time,” and together, they made a joyful kind of ruckus everywhere they went. Most of this clip didn’t make it into the final cut of the film, but it’s one of our favorites. This is the first in a series of extended interviews from the documentary, which celebrates Allee’s life, legacy, and one-of-a-kind spirit.
