The second 'Boogie Club' trip to Poland organised by parachuting enthusiast Peter returned to Krakow and the hospitality of the Pobiednik Flying Club and An-2 pilot Robert Zacharski. After arriving in Warsaw aboard Tu-154 SP-LCH on the LO282 a local flight was made on Polish AF Yak-40 042. Then we flew to the Polish airbase at Deblin on An-26 1406, continuing on to Krakow after a tour of the base and the opportunity to fly on a Po-2. At the Krakow flying club at Pobiednik, further flights were available on An-2 SP-EGB like the previous year. I went up in Wilga SP-AHA in formation with the An-2. Some also took rides in an Mi-2. Over at the airbase, another IL-14 flight was greatly enjoyed, this time on 3037. The next experience was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my enthusiast career was a flight on the single An-12 of LOT, including a beat-up and overshoot of runway 25 which I videoed from the glass nose cone. An overshoot was necessary on return after a vehicle entered the runway. Originally '51' with the Polish AF in 1966 (although SP-LZB also carried), the An-12 carried partial LOT colours through the 1970s, was seen at LHR in December 1977 in full c/s and was registered to Air Sofia as LZ-SFS in February 1995. Leased to Sri Lankan and damaged in cross-fire at Colombo in July 2001, it went on to Dynami in January 2001, ATMA as UN-11014 in May 2007 and United Int'l as YU-UID in September 2007. Last noted stored at Fujirah as EX-155 from 2010. Next day we flew on LOT An-26 SP-LWA to Prague and visited an airshow and the museum at Kbely (not until 2024 did I get to return to this mazing collection: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBKc8g). Then back to Krakow from PRG on the An-26 with its great sounds, then finally homewards aboard Tu-154 SP-LCC. Happy Days!
