[Anchor Lead] The South Korean court has issued an arrest warrant for former president Park Geun-hye. With the decision, Park is now being detained at the Seoul Detention Center. [Pkg] After becoming the first president in Korea to be removed from office, former President Park Geun-hye was arrested. The court issued an arrest warrant for the ousted president on Friday at 3:03 a.m. The decision came more than eight hours after the hearing for the warrant ended. The court explained its decision by saying that the key allegations raised against Park by prosecutors were based on substantial evidence and that there was a concern that she could destroy evidence. The prosecutors have raised 13 allegations against Park. She is being accused of conspiring with Choi Soon-sil to receive more than 29 billion won in bribes from Samsung Group Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong in return for helping him inherit his father's business. She also faces charges of coercing more than 50 corporations to donate a total of more than 74 billion won to the Mi-R and K-Sports foundations. The charges also include disclosing highly classified government information to Choi Soon-sil and ordering the drafting of a so-called cultural blacklist. After her arrest warrant was issued, Park left the Seoul Central District Court and was detained at the Seoul Detention Center at 4:45 a.m. Friday. Prosecutors plan to further interrogate Park in the near future. According to law, detained suspects must be tried in court within 20 days. In Park's case, the deadline is April 19. The prosecutors therefore plan to indict Park before April 17, when the official presidential campaign period begins.
