Our Laos government partners were able to free the bear from a small cage in northern Laos & deliver him to our Luang Prabang Wildlife Sanctuary, where he is now safely recovering in our Quarantine House. In recent years we've trained almost 150 officers from the Laos Department of Forest Inspection (DOFI) in rescue & animal care techniques - we're thrilled that our government partners from DOFI Bokeo were able to safely rescue & transfer the bear themselves, using a transport crate we had given them for this type of situation. Great work DOFI Bokeo! Thanks also to the owners who raised the bear & voluntarily handed it over to DOFI - they wanted the bear to have a better life, outside of a cage, a choice they did not know was possible before learning about Free the Bears from our DOFI Bokeo partners.
