Middlesex County Football Association Junior Cup Final Pitshanger Dynamo vs NPL Saturday - Extended Highlights Wednesday 7th April 2014 Match Report : This season's Middlesex Junior Cup final, between Pitshanger Dynamo of the Middlesex County League Division One (West) and NPL Saturday from the Surrey Elite League, was played on Wednesday evening, at Chestnut Avenue, home of Northwood FC. An entertaining and hard fought game ensued with Pitshanger Dynamo recording a merited and ultimately comfortable victory. Pitshanger played an attractive passing game from the start and went ahead in the 4th minute through a nicely placed header by Simon Hearn from Alex Clark's corner. Almost immediately, Alex Clark shot just wide following an incisive passing movement. After 14 minutes, Michael Dedoncker released Tom Cummings, who sped up the left wing and crossed for Luke Wretham to head against the NPL crossbar. In the 23rd minute NPL keeper, Ryan Smith, needed attention after a brave save at the feet of Tom Cummings, who received a caution for his vigorous challenge. Pitshanger continued to play flowing football, with Alex Clark controlling the midfield. In the 35th minute, an angled shot from Alex rebounded off goalkeeper Ryan Smith's hands onto the crossbar. Then, in the 43rd minute, Ryan thwarted Luke Wretham, who had collected a through ball and was advancing on goal. NPL threatened in the 45th minute, when Pitshanger defender, Thomas Clark, conceded a free kick and was booked for a clumsy tackle wide on his goal line. The free kick was cleared. However, the single goal margin did not flatter Pitshanger who had dominated the first half overall. Half Time Score : Pitshanger Dynamo 1 - NPL Saturday 0 NPL began the second period aggressively and took the game to Pitshanger. In the 48th minute, a fine drive from Martyn Davies was turned over the crossbar by the Pitshanger custodian. 5 minutes later Fergus McIntosh set up John Hill, who miscued in front of goal. In the 57th minute, Pitshanger's Tom Cummings headed Greg Miley's cross over the bar. Then James Cain netted for NPL but one of his team mates was adjudged to have been in an offside position. After 68 minutes, James Cain headed wide from Alex Petrou's well-placed centre. Pitshanger went 2 goals ahead in the 71st minute. A good passing movement ended with Greg Miley's efficient finishing shot. Pitshanger keeper, Shonik Majithia held a good narrow angled shot from Fergus McIntosh in the 77th minute. Then he saved a low shot from Cavin Ferris and a long free kick from Bill Witham. Pitshanger Dynamo added a third goal after 80 minutes through a finely judged lob by Simon Hearn, from at least 35 yards. Just before the final whistle, a multiple passing movement, started by the Pitshanger keeper's throw to a colleague waiting wide on the halfway line, ended with a save by the NPL keeper at Alex Clark's feet. The Junior Cup Final is one of the 3 County competitions sponsored in memory of Middlesex football stalwart, Geoff Harrison, by Football & More, the parent company of Southall FC. We were delighted to welcome one of Geoff's sons, Owen, to the match. The role Guest of Honour for this final was shared between Owen and Colin Stupack, Chairman of the Association's Governance Committee and a member of the Board of Directors. These gentlemen presented the trophy and mementoes after the game. Owen selected the Player of the Match and made the popular choice of Simon Hearn, who scored 2 of Pitshanger Dynamo's goals. http://www.middlesexfa.com http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/pitshang... / pitsdynamofc Subscribe to Wood Leopard - http://goo.gl/5D1hXQ
