Part-4: Alumina Modulus AM: Al₂O₃ / Fe₂O₃ and Silica Modulus SM: SiO₂ / (Al₂O₃+Fe₂O₃) Silica Modulus is indicator of Burnability of Clinker, Alumina Modulus influences the liquid phase in Clinker. AM is as a indicator of burning zone temperature Silica Modulus Range : 2.1 to 2.7, Alumina Modulus Range : 1.3 to 1.6 A: What is effect of Silica modulus in Clinker formation? 1. High SM results hard burning & High fuel consumption, High SM results in 2. higher free lime and higher free lime will lead to unsoundness of cement. 3. Higher SM will deteriorate kiln refractory lining 4. Higher SM results in slow setting & hardening of cement 5. Lower SM will increase liquid phase 6. Lower SM will improve the burnability of the clinker and the formation of coating in the kiln. B: What is effect of Alumina modulus in Clinker formation? 1. Higher AM imparts harder burning i.e. difficult in burning 2. Higher AM will lead to higher fuel consumtion 3. Higher AM will increase C₃A Content & reduce C₄AF Content. 4. Higher AM will increase both C₃S & C₂S Content in Clinker 5. Higher AM will reduce liquid phase and the kiln output 6. Higher AM will lead to quick setting of cement 7. Higher AM will increases viscosity of liquid phases in Raw mix. Alumina modulus determine the role of fluxes is also in raw mix If AM is too low and raw mix is without free silica, then Clk is sticking and boiling will be very high. If SM is high & AM is too low, then fast setting of cement taken place #AluminaModulus #SilicaModulus #Cementchemistry #Cement #cementpdm #cementplant #Rotarykiln
