This video is among the 12 best of the Sören Sieg Music Video Competition 2020! "Kinyongo" means melancholy - nostalgia - wistfulness. In the view of the Jury, Blockflötenensemble Klangfarbe performed this piece skillfully and emotionally, did an extraordinary sound engineering, and found very atmospheric pictures to illustrate the mood of the piece. The Ensemble explains: "Hello and greetings from Mainz-Gonsenheim! Challenged to find new ways during the Corona pandemic, our recorder ensemble "Klangfarbe" decided to exchange a live "Best of" concert commemorating our eleventh anniversary for a spontaneous online project that would keep the group together and help us share our love of music. Six members of our consort met online and opted to play a composition by Sören Sieg that has been our favorite piece since we performed it at the national "Jugend musiziert" Contest in 2017. When we learned about the "Sören Sieg Video Competition," there was no question that we would participate! After planning a typical indoor Corona video during the month of April, we were excited to be able to meet again in person and in the outdoors in May and June. Exploring various locations, we eventually settled on our local borough, situated on the outskirts of the city of Mainz and bordering on the rolling hills of Rhine-Hesse. We feel that this setting most aptly conveys the wistfulness and longing at the heart of "Kinyongo," which we shared so deeply during the lockdown. At the end of the video, the sight of the vast skies above our hometown embodies the message of hope and inspiration relayed by Sören Sieg's motto "The sky is the limit." The multi-generational recorder ensemble "Klangfarbe" was founded in 2009. We regularly perform in churches, retirement homes, charity and community events and have, in different constellations, successfully participated in regional and national competitions as well as in the "Frankfurt Music Fair." The core of the ensemble is formed by Jan, Annkristin, David, Alexander and Alexandra, who have come together to create this special project. Thank you for letting us be part of your challenge!
