In this video we're deriving the DC model of the Cuk converter with a few conduction loss components. I remember trying this as a problem from Fundamental of Power Electronics and found it pretty challenging. The DC modeling technique we're using here (there are a couple) is exactly what we've discussed in previous episodes: Use IVSB, CCB and input equations as KVL/KCL equations to generate an averaged circuit. We link the loops together with "DC" transformers. For converters with multiple inductors, sometimes there are conduction losses which also couple loops together and that is the main challenge in this problem. I hope you find this derivation useful. I'm using a new program to make these videos (MS Whiteboard), it's a little different but hopefully an improvement 0:00 Introduction 0:30 Cuk Converter and Losses 4:20 Switching States, IVSB, CCB and input equations 17:10 Equivalent Circuits 27:40 Solving the simplified DC Model 40:00 Final Solution 42:20 Outro Reference Textbook: Fundamentals of Power Electronics - Erickson and Maksimovic
